Use of Therapeutic Elastic Bandage in Patients with Post-Liposuction Ecchymosis: Pilot Study

Abstract

The therapeutic elastic bandage is a technique applied in several areas of physiotherapy, but it is commonly seen its  actions in  traumato-orthopedics, however  this study shows that the use of the technique can be much more comprehensive than we are used  to. The present work  has the goal to demonstrate the efficacy of the use of elastic bandage therapy in ecchymosis in one patient subjected to  surgery for liposuction, for the future , with new studies, we develop protocol where the bandage ceases to be mere adjuvant and will have its role of importance in the postoperative period. Knowing the phases of tissue repair we used the technique in conjunction with other also used, but the bandage was applied with the patient presenting ecchymosis in its acute phase. Therefore, prior assessment  was performed, and photos were taken, with the aim of monitoring. It is important to mention that it was clear the effectiveness of the technique, where we can easily observe the difference between the areas where the technique was applied  and where it was not  applied. In this study it is possible to  conclude the effectiveness of the technique specifically in ecchymosis clinical signs, the object of our work, however further studies are necessary in order to ratify the technique and make more comprehensive use.

Resumo

A bandagem elástica terapêutica é uma técnica aplicada em diversas áreas da fisioterapia, porém comumente vemos sua atuação em traumato - ortopedia, porém esse estudo vem demonstrar que a utilização da técnica pode ser muito mais abrangente do que estamos acostumados. O presente trabalho vem com intuito de demonstrar a eficácia da utilização de bandagem elástica terapêutica em equimose numa única paciente submetida a cirurgia de lipoaspiração, para futuramente , com novos estudos, virmos a desenvolver protocolo onde a bandagem deixa de ser mero coadjuvante e passará a ter seu papel de importância no pós operatório.Sabendo das fases de reparo do tecido utilizamos a técnica em conjunto a outras também utilizadas, porém a bandagem foi aplicada com a paciente apresentando equimose em sua fase aguda. Para tanto foi realizado avaliação prévia e fotos foram colhidas, com intuito de acompanhamento. É importante citar que foi nítida a eficácia da técnica, onde se observa com facilidade a diferença entre as áreas onde se aplicou a técnica e onde não foi aplicada. Neste trabalho podemos concluir a eficácia da técnica especificamente nos quadros de equimose, objeto do nosso trabalho, porém se fazem necessário novos estudos a fim de ratificar a técnica e tornar mais abrangente sua utilização.
